A much awaited break

It has been six months since we went on a big holiday. Last one was to Kerala for our honeymoon (will share the travel stories sometime).

A lot has happened in the past months - hectic work schedule on one hand and trying to come in terms with the not so rosy side of becoming a wife namely doing the household chores after a grueling day at work, making up new dishes everyday for dinner, keeping track of finances etc etc. So finally when Ashish proposed a holiday I couldn't agree more.

The monsoons were predicted to reach the Maharashtra circle by June 7 hence we planned to go on a holiday by June 16, as by then the weather would become pleasant and green in and around Maharashtra. With a tight budget we were not looking out for a big lavish outing but a small cozy getaway for a couple of days just to laze around and do nothing. We were speculating amongst mahabaleshwar, matheran , nasik wine trail and Chikaldhara all the well known spots, but nothing sounded appealing. We wanted to try out something which would be new and far away from city din.

One day when I was googling in office to find such a destination, my colleague suggested to try out Wildernest in Goa. Her friends were just back from a trip to Wildernest and the reviews were quite positive. I did some R&D on Tripadvisor and other blogs and was quite satisfied. The only thing that seemed a concern was the presence of leeches and the dampness of the cottages that the reviews had said. After a see-saw of yes-no we decided to put all concerns behind and select Wildernest.

The payment process was quite smooth as their service desk quite proficiently handled our request at the very last moment. Only downpoint was we missed out on the availability of valley view cottages, which are the so called 'room-with-the-best-view' since we had booked at the eleventh hour.

We are leaving today for the supposedly green abode. Let's see how our holiday turns out to be. Here's a picture of the destination taken from the net (Will post ours with the travel story once we are back).

PS: After a long time I will be travelling by train - Goa Express. The train will trace the fabled Konkan belt (Konkan belt is known for its beauty in the rains). Anticipating a lot of amazing views and looking forward for a wonderful weekend.
